Cheyenne,Our home in Louisiana was flooded back in August and we have been displaced ever since. Our kids were just getting back into the swing of things with school. We lost so many things to this historic disaster that dropped 31″ of rain in about 15 hours in Livingston parish. News sources said we had over 4 trillion gallons of rainfall, that’s enough water to supply the population of New Orleans with indoor water for 320 years, or enough water to fill 6 million Olympic-sized pools. We’ve had much help through this time and Yesphonics has helped us as well by replacing our cards. I can’t tell you how much it has meant to us that you replaced our phonogram cards that were destroyed and our family is so grateful! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Total 5 star customer support!!! – The Carters
Hi…my name is Bob Sweet. I am President of The National Right to Read Foundation. We list your program on our website and I wanted to send you a copy of a year end report we send out to volunteers and producers of evidence based reading programs.
In using the Yes Phonics program I would have to say, my biggest fear was that the curriculum would not be user friendly and easy to understand. In using it I discovered that it is indeed both and in fact the principles are so simple it is easy to over complicate it. In regards to recommending it to a friend I would have to say that it is a great program, the repetition is a great way to learn and not to be afraid to get creative with it.
I used your program to teach my daughter to read when she was in first grade. She’s now in sixth grade and came in second place in our school wide spelling bee. The winner was an 8th grader! She loves reading and spelling and I attribute much of her success to this program. I’m now getting ready to use it this summer with my first grade son.
Pauline Adamson has developed a wonderful set of self-help teaching aids based on the phonics program, “The Writing Road to Reading” by Romalda Spalding. As an elementary school teacher who uses the Spalding approach, I highly recommend Mrs. Adamson’s material”. – Jean Zier, 1st and 2nd Grade teacher and curriculum director of an award winning school and teacher Teacher -Roberts, MT
Thank you so much for your offering to the children of the world. I have sent your tutoring program to our Montessori school so our teachers may benefit from your experience and effort”. –E.C.P. Montessori International, Corwin Springs, Montana
The YesPhonics program is wonderful! My 5-year-old is reading after three months of one-hour daily lessons. He is really proud of himself. I just want you to know that I’m very pleased to have found this program. It has been a positive experience for our whole family”. (Update: reading newspapers in 1st grade.) – C.S. Fairview, Montana
A couple of months ago my boss … asked me to review a few new [phonics] programs, mainly because it was costing the school too much to send their teachers for training. Your program is the one the school has decided to go with because … it’s much easier and [more] cost effective to train new users, and the added element of art fits well in the classical model. The entire layout and sequences are brilliant.” –Pam Fink, Veritas Christian Community School, Sierra Vista, Arizona
I received your program and I am very pleased! I can tell that you have put many hours in its development. I’m certain that my students will benefit greatly.” –Les, 5th grade teacher, West Virginia
I love the program. I really like the changes that were made to the phonograms. I am having to adapt it to four levels and find it is working great! The children love YesPhonics. I am amazed at the speed they learn the phonograms, they beg for more cards each day.” –JR, Spalding teacher for Title 1 Reading, Snowflake, AZ
Thanks for scoping, sequencing and improving the Spalding Method. I Really appreciate what you have done. I teach remedial reading in high school.” –JO, Bakersfield, CA
YesPhonics programs are based on the work of four brilliant revolutionary educators… Beautifully crafted, the work of combining the ideas of these masters has been done for you. One of the best things about YesPhonics is you don’t have to wait till you research and understand the premise or reason you are doing certain things in the teaching process. You are able to jump in with both feet and YesPhonics will be your life preserver for teaching reading, spelling, and writing skills.” –Stephanie D. Scarborough, “The Old School House Magazine”
Even the website is rich with information and definitions… priceless to the first time teacher and homeschool parent. As a former classroom teacher, currently a private tutor and a homeschool mom, I personally feel the need for such a versatile product.” –Stephanie D. Scarborough, “The Old School House Magazine”
Thank you so much, I am thrilled to review this product. I had no idea there was such an easy way to teach the phonograms and the spelling lists, this is a curriculum we will be telling our parents about.” –VA, Curriculum coordinator for the Children’s Center, Memphis TN
We have so enjoyed your flashcards! My three-year-old twins love to see the pictures on the opposite side of the cards, and they stay engaged much longer than they otherwise could. They often notice the phonograms they’ve learned from the flash cards, and love to tell me what sounds they find in signs and books. We have made phonogram picture books by folding over the coloring pages (my seven-year-old loves to color them in), and bind them with brads or staples. My one-year-old love the “ou” phonogram best of all. Even if he is busy with something else when we come to the flash card or page in our book, he will get a big smile and run over, and then we ham it up. We all giggle, and he loves it. What a fun way to learn!” –C.H., Omaha NE
Thank you so much for the program. It is everything I wanted to do to make The Writing Road to Reading ‘work’ for me – but didn’t have the time!! This from someone who has used TWRTR alone for many years. I really appreciate it.” –S.L, English and Spanish tutor, Stockbridge, GA
I just wanted to let you know how often I recommend your curriculum. It is an excellent phonics program and I recommend it to anyone looking for one. Not only for those children that are dyslexic, but for all children. I have a true phonics child (wouldn’t read till he understood why) and a sight-word child. Both did well with your program and became better readers because of it. Thank you so much for taking the time to put it together. I bought the program after trying to use “The Writing Road to Reading” (the book). I was very frustrated by it and did a web search and found your site. This was 4 years ago, in 2001. I live in Utah and have homeschooled for 4 years. Yours was the very first curriculum I ever bought.” –LL in Utah
I searched so long to find a user-friendly way to do Spalding Phonics. The method is unmatched, but “The Writing Road to Reading” is just so cumbersome to learn, plan and implement. With three children under 3, I’m just too busy to do it justice. So I am thrilled to find your program and now that my 2-year-olds can even get some use from it, I couldn’t be happier.” –C.H. Omaha, NE
This is our second year using your YesPhonics program in a private school setting. Last year I used it with second graders and it was wonderful.” –Karis Massa, elementary teacher
Currently I am giving private lessons to Chinese Singaporeans. The YesPhonics Program works fantastic with my students and they are doing quite well. Ironically, my dyslexic student responded the best among the other ones who do not have reading problems. It’s working out so well that I’ve decided against going to the Spalding class.” –Carmen Cobbett, B.SC., Certified TEFL Instructor and Graduate of University of Michigan
I’ve been studying The Writing Road to Reading text for months now. I’ve been tabbing, and underlining, and taking notes, and trying everything I possibly could to come up with some sort of general daily guide as to what I was actually supposed to do to implement this method for my three children, whom I homeschool. I had no clue what I was to do after the beginning steps with my kindergartner, or to help my older kids! I was becoming very worried that once started, I would do a step wrong, or miss something altogether. Thank you thank you thank you so much! THANK YOU!” –CJ, Peyton, Colorado
I used Yes Phonics with my dyslexic son when he was in 1st grade. At the beginning of that school year he could barely read any 1st grade materials, and he had horrible phonemic awareness. By the end of that school year, he could read at a 3rd grade level independently, and at a 4th grade level assisted. I haven’t assessed him recently, but he is currently in 4th grade and reads somewhere between 6th and 7th grade reading level. YesPhonics turned out to be a great alternative option which yielded the results I was hoping for.” –HTH, Homeschooler

At first I was so overwhelmed [with phonics] but then I found your website. I am so thankful because your materials will help me a lot. I got the DVD today and am just so excited to learn about these phonograms. This it will be a great learning experience for me and my Pre-K!” — Glory Gerdes, Christian Faith School, Federal Way, WA
